What to expect after you apply to the RN Program:
Admission process overview: Once you apply to the BRN Deficient program your application will be screened for meeting the minimum requirements. If your application meets the minimum requirements you will be invited to take the Nursing Challenge Exam. If you pass the exam, you will be invited to take the Test for Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) if you have not taken it already. If you pass the TEAS, you will be asked to sit for an interview with Nursing faculty. Selected applicants will then be placed on a waitlist for entry into the Nursing program.
- The Nursing Challenge Exam: This exam is based off of material from the EVC Nursing Fundamentals course. You can learn more about the topics covered by consulting the reading list and syllabus for that course. You can prepare for this exam by reviewing the topics found in the reading list and syllabus in your Nursing Fundamentals textbook from your previous Nursing program. The Nursing Challenge Exam typically will be given in December, you will be notified by email. After you complete the exam, you will be notified of your pass/fail status via email.
- TEAS: Once you pass the Challenge Exam you will be asked to take the TEAS test (Please visit www.atitesting.com to access more information on the TEAS process and study material). This usually occurs January through March. A score of 62% or higher is required to pass.
- Interview: You will be scheduled to do a face-to-face interview with a representative from the EVC Nursing Program. After the interview you will be notified via email if you are qualified to enter our program. Please indicate if you are an international student in your interview. This will help us prepare you for the requirements through Admissions
