Evergreen Valley College Men's Soccer (15-2-4) will be the top seed in the North in the 3C2A Playoffs.
The Hawks received a first-round bye and will look to return to the State Championships for the second straight year. EVC will host a second-round matchup on Saturday, November 23, at 7 p.m. against No. 16 Delta College or No. 17 Las Positas College
3C2A Northern California Bracket
With each win, home matches will continue on November 26 and 30 before the State Championships, hosted by American River College in Sacramento on December 6 and 8.
Ricardo Tovar leads the club with 37 points and 16 goals, while Jesus Valtierra (11) and Josue Lopez (10) lead the club in assists.
The Hawks have touched No. 1 in the nation in the state and national rankings this season. They are currently No. 5 in the PowerPoint Rankings entering the postseason.
It is the fourth-straight playoff appearance for head coach Simon Cook after reaching the State Finals last year and finishing No. 5 nationally. They lost to El Camino in the State Semifinals.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15 for general admission adults, $10 for children under 12, students with a school ID, adults aged 60 and over, faculty, and staff. Cash is only accepted. Parking is free in Lot 6.
Notable for the Men:
- The Hawks are riding a 14-match unbeaten streak. The men are 9-0-2 at home in 2024 after going 11-1-3 in 2023. Their last home loss was on October 31, 2023, to West Valley (1-0) to close out the regular season.
- The men, along with El Camino College, have been ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in the live power points in the State for most of the year.
- The men enter the postseason fifth in the State in scoring with 3.0 goals per game and sixth in total shutouts (10).
- The Hawks finished second (8-2-3) in the Coast South Division, one game behind West Valley College (9-2-2).
- EVC beat Delta 2-1 and Las Positas 4-2 earlier this year.
