Classes below are specifically designed to have limited financial barriers for students. This includes zero cost textbooks and materials 

Rise above barriers with integrated support!

The Math (C1000) and English (C1000) RISE courses provide you with student success teams designed to help you thrive in your gateway courses. You’ll gain access to tutoring, academic counseling, and other helpful resources, all while building a strong sense of community and belonging. Students selected for these sections of Math & English must meet certain criteria and willing to commit to the resources and other programming to ensure success.

Enrollment Priority Criteria

  • Plan to enroll in 9 or more units in Spring 26
  • A first-generation college student
  • Eligible for a CA College Promise Grant
  • Committed to attending counseling and tutoring resources
  • Apply by January 16, 2026
