K-12 Students
California Students who have not earned a high school diploma (or GED), can take college courses at EVC and earn college and high school credit for free. Students are enrolled in middle or high school. Students must have their school counselors / principals approval for enrollment.
Dual Enrollment is also open to adult education students who are in a GED or high school equivalency program at an adult school.
High School students should talk to their high school counselors for suggestions on what to take.
Students have two pathways:
- Taking classes at EVC and on their own (called concurrent)
- Taking classes at their local school (called CCAP)
Types of Dual Enrollment
Concurrent
Any student taking a class at their own accord is considered a Concurrent Student. Most students will fall in this category.
- Enroll in college class(es) at their own accord
- Enroll in open courses
- Take up to 11 units for Fall/Spring
- Take up to 7 units for Summer
- Do not pay enrollment fees
CCAP Pathways
College & Career Access Pathways or CCAP are parnterships with area schools.
A student attending a high school in partnership with EVC through a CCAP Agreement and enrolls in a designated CCAP course is considered a CCAP Student.
- Enroll in a closed, cohort-based course
- Take classes that are held at the high school
- Take up to 15 units per semester, or up to 4 courses (CCAP courses only)
- Do not pay enrollment fees
- Do not pay material fees
OTHER OPTIONS FOR K-12 STUDENTS
TRiO Talent Search
TRiO Talent Search program is a free, federally-funded program that serves six target High Schools in San Jose.
TRiO Upward Bound
Upward Bound serves: high school students from low-income families; and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree.
ACCEL Middle College
ACCEL juniors and seniors from East Side Union High School District simultaneously attend college courses during the morning and high school classes in the afternoon.For School Districts
- To establish a new/amend a CCAP Agreement:
- Submit your request by email requesting changes or new courses
- Direct your requests to Dean Angel G. Fuentes and Program Coordinator, Alexis Marquez Villa
- We will respond to requests within 60 days per SB1244.
Adult Education
A student who is currently enrolled in a GED or high school equivalency program at an adult school is considered an Adult Education Student. Prospective students can contact Teneka Cornish for more information to apply.
