SB 1309 allows community colleges to utilize approved diagnostic assessment tools prior to enrollment in the nursing program. Evergreen utilizes the Test for Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). For additional information on the TEAS, visit https://www.atitesting.com/Solutions/PreNursingSchool.aspx
ATI completed a norming study on the new TEAS exam (Version V.). Due to student success data, the recommended cut score of version V is 62%. Based on the recommendation from the State Chancellor’s office, the EVC Nursing program will no longer accept TEAS test version 3.0 or 4.0 with cut scores of 72% or higher, effective the October 2011 application cycle.
In order to be eligible for the nursing program, Evergreen requires a qualifying score of 62% on Version V. Students who do not meet the qualifying score will be given one year to complete an individualized remediation plan. The student can then retake the TEAS.
Evergreen will offer TEAS testing dates and times for students that have been selected for provisional enrollment in the nursing program. The next cycle for TEAS testing will occur in Spring 2013. Since Evergreen receives state Enrollment Growth and Retention Funds, the $25 fee attached to the TEAS is waived for students who have been provisionally accepted to Evergreen’s nursing program. These fees will be waived through Spring 2013.
For students who have completed the TEAS, version V, and if they have been provisionally accepted into our program, please provide the nursing program with an official TEAS transcript. These can be ordered through http://www.atitesting.com/OnlineStore/BrowseStore.aspx?RootID=84&CatID=96. This is the only avenue that students can submit their transcripts to Evergreen. The cost is $20.00
There is currently no recency to the TEAS test.
Effective October 2013 application period, students who are provisionally accepted can only take the test once after notification of acceptance, it can however be taken at any site.
