Introduction
  •    To be eligible for EVC admission, students must be at least 18 years old or have one of the following:
      • High school diploma
      • General Education Degree (GED)
      • High school proficiency certificate

Introduction (special cases)
  • High school students may apply under the guidelines specified in upcoming slides.
  • Corrections, Law Enforcement, and Nursing program students must check with the individual programs for any additional required application procedures.
  • International Students must apply through the International Admissions office (408-274-7900, ext 6638).

  • If you apply online, make sure you either mail, fax, or bring in your signature page.  If you do not, your application will NOT be processed.

New College Student
  • File an Application for Admission online (cccapply.org or by clicking on “Quick Links” at www.evc.edu) or at the Admissions and Records Office.


  • Schedule and complete Assessment and Orientation (408-274-7900, ext 6636 or 270-6442).


  • Register for classes by telephone (408-223-0300) or online (MyWeb.sjeccd.org).

Returning Student
  • On Clear Academic Status:
  • File an Application for Admission online (cccapply.org or by clicking on “Quick Links” at www.evc.edu) or at the Admissions and Records Office.
  • On Probation Status:
  • File an Application for Admission online or at the Admissions and Records Office.
  • Schedule a required Counseling appointment (408-270-6474).
  • On Dismissal Status:
  • Complete a re-admission petition.
  • Schedule a required Counseling appointment (408-270-6474).
  • File an Application for Admission online or at the Admissions and Records Office.
  • Finally:
  •          Register for classes by telephone (408-223-0300) or online (MyWeb.sjeccd.org).

Transfer Student
  • File an Application for Admission online (cccapply.org or by clicking on “Quick Links” at www.evc.edu) or at the Admissions and Records Office.
  • If you intend to continue from courses taken at a previous college, schedule an appointment with a counselor (408-270-6474) and bring your unofficial transcripts.
  • Otherwise, you may schedule and complete an Assessment Test (408-274-7900, ext 6636 or 270-6442).
  • Register for classes by telephone (408-223-0300) or online (MyWeb.sjeccd.org).

High School Student
  • File an Application for Admission online (cccapply.org or by clicking on “Quick Links” at www.evc.edu) or at the Admissions and Records Office.
  • An R-40 form must be completely filled out and submitted with your application.

High School Student (R-40)
  • Make sure you mark which college and for which semester this
    R-40 is for.

High School Student
  • You may only register for up to 11 units (Spring & Fall Semesters).
  • The courses must be vocational, enrichment, or advanced courses not available at the high school.
  • You may not register for PE courses or remedial courses (e.g. Math 311, English 394).
  • You may not enroll in courses available through the high school, except in summer or under special circumstances (supplemental petition from the high school counselor is required and will be reviewed by the Director of Admissions).
  • Any courses taken at EVC will appear on your permanent record and will be for college credit only.

High School Student
  • 3.   All high school students must take a Placement Test before enrolling in courses.  Please note: High school course work will not be used to meet Math/English prerequisites.  Make the appointment by calling 408-274-7900 ext. 6636
    or 408-270-6442.
  • 4.   You must enroll for courses in person at the Admissions and Records Office.

Open Curriculum Classes Only
  • Open curriculum classes do not have any prerequisites or requirements (e.g. most PE, Music, Art, courses, and others as well).  If your are only taking Open Curriculum classes (and are NOT a High School Student), you do not need assessment or orientation.

R-42 Special Part-time Student
  • File an Application for Admission at the Admissions and Records Office.
  • Complete and submit an R-42 form at the same time.

R-42 Special Part-time Student
  • Middle School Student
  • A signed letter from your principal supporting your EVC attendance.
  • Complete placement test.
  • Provide middle school transcripts.
  • Make an appointment to see the Director of Admissions.
  • Home Schooled Student
  • Verification that you are affiliated with a home school program recognized by your school district or copy of the R4 Affidavit.
  • Complete placement test.
  • Make an appointment to see the Director of Admissions.
  • Age 16-18 and no longer attending high school
  • Verification of GED or High School proficiency results.
  • Complete placement test.
  • Provide high school transcripts.
  • Make an appointment to see the Director of Admissions.

Registration
  • Look through the current Schedule of Classes to find the courses that you wish to register for.
  • Pay attention to fee schedules and deadlines on pages 2 and 3 of the Schedule of Classes.  You are responsible for knowing these dates.

Special Notes for All Students
  • Make sure to fill out all forms completely.
  • If you register online or through the phone, make sure you pay your fees by the published deadlines.
  • If you register in person, you must pay your fees in full at the same time.
  • Please direct any additional questions to the front counter staff in the Admissions and Records Office.
