Introduction
  • Over the years, the internet has been a great tool for movie lovers around the world.  People are now able to watch full-length trailers, rent movies through Netflix, view screenplays, as well as print movie tickets at home.  However, the internet has caused major problems in the movie industry such as piracy, and DVD sanitizing.  This presentation will focus on the advantages and disadvantages the internet has on Hollywood.

Please Stop Piracy
  • Hollywood lost $6.1 billion in revenue due to piracy in 2005, and it continued to increase over the past couple of years.  Illegally downloading movies and pirating DVDs are hurting the movie industry.  So please do what Puss in Boots says, and please stop piracy.

DVD Sanitizing
  • DVD sanitizing is a controversial issue going on right now in Hollywood.  Basically, it’s about a group of people who edit out graphic content on DVDs and make a profit by selling them or making them available for rent.  If you want to learn more about DVD sanitizing, please click on this link:  http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20050418-4819.html

  • The internet has been a great tool for screenwriters.  Click on this link (http://sfy.ru/) and you will find hundreds of screenplays from your favorite movies.  So if you have a great idea for a movie, then write a screenplay.  Who Knows?  Your story might end up on the big screen someday.
